Leave during term time
Parents are not entitled to take their children on holiday during term time. Parents are expected to arrange family holidays during the school holidays.

If you have an exceptional reason to take your child out of school for several days, this must be discussed with the head teacher who will consider whether leave can be granted.

If you do not have leave granted but you still choose to take your child out of school the absence will be unautoorised. This may result in a visit from the Educational Welfare Officer and in some cases a fine, or your child may lose their place at school.
